Noise is Pollution

It seems grossly unfair to force neighbors of sports fields to sacrifice such a basic and vital component of a healthy quality of life so that another group of people can have the luxury of entertaining themselves

In light of this, it is important to point out that the areas surrounding Goddard and Sandburg Middle Schools are all residential.

Development of Sports Parks with their associated  noise, generated by cars, PA systems, whistles, and crowds has been allowed to go forward unchecked. This environment places added responsibilities on all of us to curb the amount and level of noise created and permitted.

By any standard, noise is pollution. All contribute to the problem and are subsequently violations of city and state code.

It is common courtesy to make every attempt to reduce the amount of noise we create or allow. We all understand that while some noise is unavoidable, other disturbances are not only unnecessary and unpleasant, but also they are illegal. In point of fact, Glendora  city ordinances, City of Glendora Municipal Code, 9.44, Noise Regulation,-  9.36.010 Nuisances, and 21.04 Residential Zoning and state regulations California Noise Control Act California Health and Safety Code Sections 46000 - 46080  are in place to protect us all from noise. Excessive noise is a violation of the city ordinances and state regulations.

With or without the ordinance, loud, unnecessary noises reduce the quality of life for everyone, everywhere. For people in our neighborhood, the evening hours as well as weekend days and nights, our homes are a place of refuge -- a place to go to rest and recover from the pace and stress of urban life. It seems grossly unfair to force neighbors of sports fields to sacrifice such a basic and vital component of a healthy quality of life so that another group of people can have the luxury of entertaining themselves.

After a few hours of play, users of the fields will leave to relax in the peace and security of their homes. It's sad to think that if the neighbors of these facilities want a little peace and quiet, they will have to leave their homes and not come back until the games have ended.

In the interest of the, homeowners, and your neighbors we ask that you respect the right of everyone to live in a peaceful, low-noise atmosphere. We ask your assistance in reducing the amount of noise under your control. We appreciate your attention, cooperation and courtesy.
