Rolling Meadows, IL --The park district held a referendum in 1993 on whether or not to have lights at Hamilton. Voters rejected lights.

Officials of the Palatine Park District, which serves part of western Rolling Meadows, are learning what it would take to install lights at Hamilton Field without disturbing nearby residents.

Park Commissioner Sue Gould, said she does not believe it is possible to prevent Hamilton Field light from shining into the adjacent neighborhood.

Gould said she is against having lights because if light spills into the neighborhood, it would have a negative impact on real estate values in the nearby homes.

"And I'm not convinced kids should play at night," she said. "Once it gets dark, kids should be at home, especially on a school night."
